Des cription: (see message from George below) We’ll be burning river-bar gr asslands along the Klamath River to reduce invasive species and provide def ensible space for river communities during the coming wildfire season.
Food: Lunches will be provided on burn days\, participants will have to bring their own breakfast and dinner.

“Hello\,
You may notice there is no longer a tentatively in the subject. We a re feeling pretty good about our burn window coming up and are moving forwa rd with plans to get some fire on the ground.
Operations: There will be some more unit specific information with Maps\, etc coming out in the coming days\, but in general we are targeting low-elevat ion invasive dominated grasslands\, with the goals of reducing invasive cov erage and improving native plant habitat\, promoting training and learning opportunities\, and promoting community fire resiliency. Most of the units will be relatively (for the Klamath region) flat and friendly (little shade though).
We are currently planning for early morning operati ons\, at least to start. Specific meeting locations and briefing times will be coming in the next days as well.
We are planning to start burning in the Happy Camp Area. For now\, you can plan on meeting at the < b>Klamath Siskiyou Arts Center at 63633 CA-96\, Happ y Camp\, CA 96039\, at 7:00 am on Tuesday 6/23. For those of you co ming out the area\, plan for the long drive times.
Later in th e week\, and through the weekend we will be moving operations down river to wards Orleans\, Somes Bar and the Salmon River.
For now we are planning to Burn 6/23-6/27\, take a break on the 28th\, then burn 6/29- 7/1\, shutting down for the holiday weekend.
PPE: < /b>Natural Fiber or Nomex Long Sleeved Shirt and Pants\, closed toed lea ther boots\, gloves\, hard hat\, eye protection (sunglasses work). Fire she lters are not required. We do ask that people bring a pack and the capacity to carry at least a half gallon of water with them as well as lunch\, etc. Headlamps are recommended. We do have PPE to loan to those who dont have a ll the items.
Training: There will be opportunit ies for task book work with these burns. If there are specific needs or req uests please let me know.
Logistics: We will be providing lunches during operational days but no other meals.
We are not providing any lodging. There are ample camping opportunities on nearby Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests. There are also private camp grounds and lodging in the Happy Camp area that provide showers\, etc. Unfo rtunately we dont have anything set up for showers. We will be able to prov ide access to some kitchen facilities in the morning and evening. Happy Cam p has a fully stocked grocery store and some other food options.
As operations move downriver\, there are less store and food options\, but still plenty of camping. We will help folks out as we can but please pl an accordingly.

uncil has asked for our support in burning some of their bigger and more co
mplex units next week. The burns range from 7 to 37 acres in historic prair
ie footprints\, legacy tanoak forests\, and all the other exciting fuel typ
es that the lower Klamath River is famous for! CFMC is planning to utilize
an ignitions drone to fire some of these larger units. If you’re interested
in that technology this will be an interesting burn!
These will be
many long days and nights of hard work on steep slopes and in thick brush.
For this reason\, CFMC has asked that we prioritize folks with availability
for more burn days and a moderate level of experience. That being said\, t
here is always room for all experience levels on our crews.
They've asked for support from a crew of 10 PBA members. Gabe or I will reach out to those that are selected to join the PB A crew for this operation.

Details: A week of cult ural burns and prescribed fires with cultural objectives. Various la rge units throughout the lower Klamath River. Day and night burning operati ons\, and drone ignitions!

. Most PBAs in the central coast/socal area require FFT2 to participate in
broadcast burns\, so we'll be hosting a practice run of the pack test so f
olks can prepare before Basic 40/Rt-130 classes become live. Check out our

The Chainsaw Operations for Landowners course is designed to provide safe\, practical chainsaw training for landowners\, ranchers\, and community members involved in vegetation management\, defensible space\, f uel reduction\, and property maintenance. The course includes an online lea rning component followed by two in-the-field skills days focused on hands-o n instruction and real-world application.
Participants will learn cha insaw safety\, PPE requirements\, saw maintenance\, starting procedures\, c utting techniques\, hazard recognition\, limbing\, bucking\, and basic tree felling considerations. Field exercises are designed to build confidence\, improve operational awareness\, and promote safe work practices in a wildl and environment.
This course is ideal for individuals looking to deve lop practical chainsaw skills while supporting wildfire resilience\, land s tewardship\, and community-based fuels reduction efforts.
